Director of Energy and Environment at the Council of the Quebec Forest Industry (CIFQ)
As Director of Energy and Environment, Louis Germain monitors major energy and environmental issues. He is also called upon to advise CIFQ members on their positioning and to influence decision-makers on the desirable directions for the forest industry to maintain or improve its contribution to Quebec's sustainable development.
Mr. Germain has held important positions in several Quebec government ministries, including Director General at the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (2015-2021), the Ministry of Finance (2012-2014), the Ministry of Economic Development, Innovation, and Export (2010-2012), the Ministry of Executive Council (2008-2010), and the Ministry of the Environment (1989-2008).
He joined CIFQ in 2021, bringing extensive experience in the Quebec government. As a career senior official, he has been involved in numerous energy and environmental issues. As a partner in the research consortium, Mr. Germain coordinates the Innovation Platform for Panels on behalf of CIFQ. He is responsible for the administrative oversight of Corepan-Bois, partly funded by the platform.
