Wood Scientist, SEREX

Aziz Laghdir holds a Bachelor's degree in Continuum Mechanics, a Master's degree in Mechanics of Materials, Structures, and Process Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Wood Science. From 2000 to 2002, he conducted postdoctoral research at Université Laval on modeling the thermo-hygro-mechanical behavior of wood during drying.

Before joining SEREX as a researcher in 2008, Mr. Laghdir was a teaching assistant at the Laboratory of Mechanics and Civil Engineering at the University of Montpellier in France, followed by roles as a research professional and lecturer at Université Laval. Since 2010, he has been an associate professor in the Department of Wood and Forest Sciences at Université Laval.

His research activities cover a wide range of expertise areas, including materials mechanics, the development of bio-sourced products for the eco-construction sector, recycling of forest waste and residues in the context of the circular economy, thermal treatments, drying, mass and heat transfer, wood physics and preservation, and energy recovery from forest biomass.
